Is 2026 a leap year?
2026 is not a leap year because it's not divisible by 4. There are additional rules around leap years aside from divisibility by four, but these only matter once each century so for another 74 years we can just go by the 'divisible by 4' rule :)
What does the schoolyear start in 2026?
Most school boards across Canada in 2026 will start the schoolyear on Tuesday September 8, a day after Labour Day but be sure to check with your school to confirm this.
Daylight saving time in 2026
Moving the clock forward and back for daylight saving time is still in effect and in 2026 it starts on Sunday, March 8 and ends on Sunday, November 1. Efforts to implement permanent daylight saving time are slow-moving. Timing also needs to be coordinated with the United States due to Canada's close proximity and close trade relationship.
